The Chinese Museum of Contemporary Art
The ceramic facade draws inspiration from traditional Chinese fans, reimagining their elegant and intricate designs to create a contemporary architectural feature.

Renovated with the aim of maximizing natural light depending on the location of the existing building, the facade utilizes innovative techniques to allow sunlight to permeate through the ceramic structure, creating a play of light and shadow reminiscent of the delicate patterns found in traditional fan designs. This blending of tradition and modernity not only pays homage to Chinese cultural heritage but also enhances the aesthetic and functionality of the building, creating a harmonious interplay between light, form, and tradition. The ceramic facade boldly integrates traditional Chinese colors like vibrant red and lush green, enhancing its connection to cultural heritage while optimizing natural light.
The design language of traditional Chinese fans is consistently echoed across all buildings, with semicircles resembling the iconic fan shape. These semicircles, highlighted in bold red, serve to divide display areas into distinct parts, drawing visitors' attention and creating an immersive experience. Red, being an iconic color deeply associated with Chinese culture, further enhances the connection to tradition and captivates the audience. This meticulous integration of design elements not only honors Chinese heritage but also elevates the aesthetic appeal, ensuring a memorable visit for all.
